Case Study: ASCO

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is a non-profit organization with the goal of improving cancer care and prevention. As part of their mission, ASCO holds an annual conference to deliver cutting edge science and educational developments in oncology to their members.


Challenge


Each year, ASCO has a number of materials including call for abstracts, educational journals, and conference attendee materials (attendee badges, meal tickets, conference guide and itinerary, and other items) that need to be distributed ahead of the annual conference. ASCO was looking for a cost effective way to get all of these materials into the hands of members prior to the conference. They also wanted the conference attendee materials to enhance the conference experience for attendees through personalization.


Solution


Continental came up with an innovative and low cost solution that combined all materials into one package, yet called out the personalized conference attendee materials. All conference attendee materials were printed and personalized for each attendee. These materials where then packaged in a protective mailer envelope, labeled, and shrink wrapped attached to the journals and call for abstracts. The entire package was then inserted into a custom corrugated shipping carton with a die cut window. We produced 40,000 units that mailed USPS at presorted bound printed materials rate.


Result


Because of our solution, ASCO was able to avoid the logistics and costs traditionally involved in distributing all of these materials at the conference (this amounts to 30 pallets of books and the need to produce conference attendee materials on-site at the conference). Doctors showed up to the conference, wearing their badges, knowing what to expect, and ready to go.
